Nigeria - Stallion takes Hyundai through Lagos streets
The Daily Sun

It was a carnival of sorts on some streets of Lagos: Long line-up of Hyundai vehicles, a musical group wearing South African costumes and exhibiting intricate Zulu dance steps, as well as a crowd - all led by a flat-body articulated vehicle (trailer) bearing a giant football branded by the South Korean author maker.

It was a road-show embarked on by the sole marketer of Hyundai vehicles in Nigeria, Hyundai Motors Nigeria Limited, which is a member of the Stallion Group. The aim was to flaunt its array of automobiles competing in many segments of the market, including compact, mid-size and executive sedans, as well as SUVs and buses.

As a FIFA partner in the South Africa 2010 World Cup which kicks off on June 11, Hyundai is creating awareness and mobilizing support for participating teams all over the world. Hence the dealership in Nigeria is not just showcasing its range of vehicles on Lagos roads, but also encouraging football fans to sign signatures and inscribe messages to the Nigerian senior national football team on the big ball.

Hyundai Motors Nigeria Marketing Manager, Mr Karthik J. Nayak and Media Manager, Santhosh Kumar, both of whom led the train from the head office on Ajose. Adeogun Street, in Victoria Island to the seat of the Lagos State Government in Alausa, then to the National Stadium in Surulere, and back to Victoria Island, disclosed that the giant ball bearing the messages and signatures would be taken to the venues where the Super Eagles would play all their matches in South Africa.

Among the people that signed on the ball was the Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Prince Demola Adeniji-Adele, who came down from his office at the secretariat to meet the train.

In the line-up of vehicles Hyundai paraded through the streets of Lagos were the smallie called i10 which has been winning awards lately as one of the best compact car in the Nigeria market, another not-too-small sedan, the Accent, as well as the class-beating Elantra, one of the country’s fastest-selling mid-size sedans.

Also on the Hyundai Nigeria stable are the Sonate and Azera, an executive sedan, the all-new Tucson, SUV, as well as a mini bus which also has a van and an ambulance variant.
